About Elevate
Mentorship programmes led by senior Nairobi professionals, with the vetting done before you pay rather than after you complain.
Why this exists
There is no shortage of people in Nairobi who know how to do a job well, and no shortage of people who would pay to be taught by them. What is missing is the part in between: a way to find out whether the person charging you is actually senior in the field they claim, and a way for them to run a cohort without building a business around it.
Elevate is that part in between. Mentors bring the expertise and the teaching. We handle vetting, payment, scheduling, the reminders, the refunds and the tax paperwork.
How mentors are vetted
Nobody can publish a programme by signing up. Every mentor goes through this:
- They apply. Headline, biography, areas of expertise, a professional profile, and a short introduction video.
- We verify who they are. A government identity document and a KRA PIN. The document is checked once, held privately, and is not reachable by a link.
- A person reviews the application. Not a form and not a score. They are approved, rejected, or sent back with specific changes.
- The programme is reviewed separately. Being an approved mentor does not publish anything. The curriculum, the schedule and the price are read before a seat can be sold.
If a mentor is later suspended, everything of theirs is withdrawn at once — programmes, cohorts and curricula disappear from the site together, rather than one at a time as somebody notices.
How the money works
You pay for a seat. We take a commission, fixed at the moment you pay, and the mentor receives the rest in two parts: half when the cohort starts and half when it finishes and the work has been marked. The mentor is not paid in full for a cohort they have not yet run.
If you leave part way through, the refund policy returns the part of the programme that has not run. If we cancel a cohort, you get everything back.
